Dr. Akshay Bali is a Pathologist with a special interest in hematology and clinical pathology. He completed his MBBS from Vinayaka Mission’s Medical College affiliated to Pondicherry University in 2009. During his undergraduate training, he was awarded a gold medal in Pathology from the Pondicherry University. He did his MD in Pathology from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College.
He has always been an enthusiastic learner and did not restrict himself to just prescribed academics. He participated in various state as well as national level quiz competitions and won many accolades.
Post MD, he had an interesting career road map. Against prevalent wisdom of joining government hospitals or established diagnostic centers, he joined start-up medical ventures, first in Jind and subsequently in Rohtak, Haryana, where he was entrusted to build up the lab. Far from his expectation, he had a good time doing it and in the process accumulated a wealth of knowledge about start-up labs. Eventually, he shifted to Delhi and started his two-year-long association with the one of the biggest and renowned name in diagnostic healthcare, Dr. Lal Path Labs (NABL and CAP accredited), as the chief of laboratory in the hospital-based laboratories of Dr. Lal Path Labs, a world far removed from the start ups. He learned to handle humongous workload, and perfected his craft of diagnosis, learned and implemented quality control and assurance policies.
He has a very unique and ‘un-businessman like’ vision for his lab, “I don’t aim to open a factory reporting and signing out hundreds of cases every day. Even having only ten patients referred to my lab will make me immensely satisfied as they would have my undivided attention and accord me the time to help them and my clinical colleagues arrive at the correct diagnosis.”
